Next generation automotive technology!

Today I went with my Dad to the car showroom to close his car loan. The showroom manager ushered us into his plush office and was very courteous. This is the conversation that took place after the pleasantries.

Dad: I am amazed at the technology used in this car!!!
Manager (pleased): Thank you Sir! This particular model has some high end features and you were very wise to go for it.
Dad: No, what I was trying to say is that this car never gave me any problem till the day before yesterday, but yesterday after I paid the last EMI cheque the car started rattling and shaking and showing its true colors. Amazing technology! How do you people do it? Hats off!

Hey prats, thanks for the comment, about the make of the car ...it's from the Toyota stable :p

Amey said...

Yes, they have some embedded "bugs" which start "crawling" when enabled... Enabling bugs is done automatically when the last payment is entered in database ;)

Ha...the timing and sarcasm :)...make him a co-authour here...or is he already *is this silverine ? :))*

How do we know said...

Amazing!! Which car was this?? Please, you will be nice enough to warn us!! ?

silverine said...

fleiger: It's as if the car had a feature that kept it's troubles hidden till the last payment :))

bvn: Since I carry the genes you could call him co-author !!! :p

how do we know: It's one of the latest offering from Toyota ;)

Amey said...

Of course, the car manufacturers, being the noble souls do not advertise all the features they provide us ;)

You are scaring me!! This month, I too paid the last EMI on my car. Tell me, what kind of "high technology" did your dad's car display?

Anonymous said...

The pbm is not with the car- you folks should have taken the longest EMI option possible - its when people get over-enthusiastic and try to pay off the EMI too soon that such things happen. For eg: I'm still paying the EMIs for the bicycle i bought in Seventh standard- and still nothing is wrong with it !

And well, dont say Toyota didnt warn you. Didnt they make Aamir Khan tell you "I just have to keep moving ahead" (Job hoppers took it as a message for them but thats not what he meant)..So ask your dad to get a louder car stereo and a few Heavy metal cds .You wont hear the rattles anymore .And...."just keep moving ahead"

PS: Here in Gurgaon, the BPOs have moved from Qualises to tht car of yours..So mebbe you can be "innovative" and sell it over here..

cheers
flaash

There are different features for last EMI, missed EMI and so on. Very intelligent and techno savvy manufacturers. I bet it is Innova :-)

Jiby said...

wow...this thing just happened to my dad's car too...right after the 2 free services from the dealer got over!

maybe all that those sophisticated chips they say that monitor the car does is, nasty stuff like that!!!

i am wondering after reading this what strategy he might have used to get it fixed for free too...maybe i shud offer him this new techno- kaliyaakal from ur dad!!!

there was a research underway in south korea to prove the hypothesis that humor is genetic..

shortly after this post was released at 22:09 hours Oct 15, 2006, they stopped further research and are now focussing their resources to trace the humor gene.

Heee heee.... it's a universal phenomenon.

Psst... I got the inside story. Didja know what the basis for car manufacturing is? Murphy's law! For a lot of other things too... but particularly for cars. Toyota takes their laws seriously you know.

I had some same experience. I signed a 1 year contract for my cell phone. I thought I will use the same phone after my contract gets over. but it died in the 13 month. so many of my friends have the same experience.

Alexis: Guess they have high tech for collecting arrears too :)

Lijo: I wish :)

Lazith: He blushed with embarassmnet and then started laughing :p

Jiby: lol these people are so thick skinned that techno kaliyaakal may not work :p

mind curry: I hope they are looking in Kerala ;)

Hiren: A sad fact that keeps industry wheels churning I guess!

neermathalam: I design the brochure..the fine print is done by a different set of people altogether ;)

If I tell Ya gal: Brother has been behaving himself lately :p

Dev: LOL that was a good one!!

brijesh: I don't know how they do it!!! :)

Lalit: It was, I wish I had a camera :))
